Mercy Built A Bridge

1. In a lowly cattle stable in Bethlehem,

There were signs of new construction on the mighty span,

And in the regions of the lost, would cast a shadow of the cross,

‘Cause that babe of Mary’s cradle would soon be mercy’s bridge.

2. Now we can cross, but we must cross the Calvary way,

That leads from night into the brightest day,

Where Jesus died so that you and I could live,

Leave all your guilt for, mercy built a bridge.

Chorus: Hope was just across the river on heaven’s side,

But, we were much too weak to swim with no boat to ride,

God made a way that couldn’t fail,

A wooden Cross, three old rusty nails,

On Calvary’s rugged ridge,

Mercy built a bridge.
