Do you honor your wife?

Brothers and Christian friends, this is a short and brief little tract to help us husbands know how to honor our wives, the weaker vessel, in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.

I Peter 3:7: “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”

I know you’re God’s man and chosen and the world revolves around you. The Bible says all men’s hearts are fashioned alike. I know, God gave you your wife to be a servant to you, yeah, I know he made her your helpmate, yeah, I know she’s the lesser, the weaker vessel. Yeah, I know God sent her to this earth just to slave for you and so you could talk to her like some kind of slave servant. I will also say that your interpretation of all the above is perverted.

I also know the Bible says that a husband would lay his life down for his wife. It also says that when a man finds a virtuous woman he finds a good thing. Brother, you are supposed to be an example of Christ. The reason God speaks that way in the Word, of the woman being weaker, is to show you the need to care for her.

According to the Word of God, I’m the bride of Christ. I know in the dimension that you look and see me in, I’m a man. The Lord says that He is coming back for His bride without spot wrinkle or blemish. It also says that Jesus is our husband. If you’re not married to Him then you’re none of His, and He has never known you. The reason He expresses women to be the weaker vessel and a helpmate is so you, yes, you, sir, brother, can see the need to love God with all your heart. So you can see the weakness in your macho, fleshly life, and that you need a God to help you and lead you out of the clutches of Satan.

You men that mistreat your wives because you are so superior and you are God’s man, I would like to say to you like the great man of God, Billy Sunday, all you need is about seven different kinds of devils slapped out of you. I will tell you like this, if you are God’s elect child and you mistreat your wife, you can expect the same treatment from Him toward you. Brother, if you want to get God’s attention, then you need to get your wife’s attention; you need to love and care for her.

If you are having marriage problems, brother, go ahead a keep lying to yourself, try to make yourself believe that it is all her fault. I hope it makes you feel better because you’re only fooling yourself. You’re not fooling God. It just shows your relationship with God. If you and your wife don’t have good communication, it is just because you and God don’t have good communication.

When was the last time you prayed and said, “Lord Jesus, I love you?” That should be numerous times daily. How about when was the last time you looked at your wife and said, “I love you?” I’m not talking about when you are trying to fulfill your fleshly or lustful desires. You should never go out the door to work without looking at your wife and saying, “I love you.” I know when you get home you want the floors vacuumed, the dishes done, laundry and so on. Oh, yeah, you can always remind her when it’s not done. But when was the last time you said, “Thank you, honey, for taking care of those things”? Yes, I know that is what is expected. But is it appreciated? Do you have gratitude?

I’m surprised that you made it this far in this brief note of godliness. The things that I’m speaking of bring the blessings of God to you. Brother, if you want God’s attention then you need to take care of things in this earth first. You know that the Bible says that we have the power to bind on earth and in heaven. Well, brother, when you treat your wife like a dog and a servant, you have bound up the love of God towards you.

I do marriage counseling. I can’t imagine talking to my wife the way I have heard men talk to their wives. I know you, Mister Macho, you think my wife runs the house here. Sorry to have to inform you, but I command my home and my wife is in submission to me as her headship. Do you know why? It is because I’m in submission to my husband, Jesus, as the bride of Christ, and He gives me everything that pertains unto life.

I know what you think about yourself, you’re so awesome and so manly. Listen just for a second, please. When you think you’re better than somebody it shows you do not have God’s Spirit. The Bible says that we as children of God are the least of all. You need to prefer others better than yourself. You just think you are masculine. A man that mistreats his wife is nothing but a big sissy. You’re being molested by every foul and unclean devil that comes by. He is stealing your life and trying to make everybody around you miserable.

Why don’t you be a real man and repent of your god-awful life style. Why don’t you read the Bible and see what a real man does; he lays his life down. Get out of your selfish little world that is all about you. There is nothing more disgusting than some self-centered man that thinks he’s better than everybody. You may be a good business man, you may be a good provider for your family I commend you for that. But what does that profit you when you are on your way to hell? You need to get born again. Quit letting the devil molest you. He’s robbing you of your life. You’re not happy, he’s just trying to make you think you are, but deep down inside – you are not happy.

The things of this world will never be satisfied. You will never have enough money or enough fleshly pleasure. Just don’t keep wasting your miserable little life. Get born again, serve God, and let Him teach you how to be a husband. Let me also say to some of you that think you’re born again - and you’re a drunk, you curse, you lie, you cheat and I could go on. The Bible says you will have your part in the lake of fire. Don’t lie to yourself any longer. Repent of your sins. You made it this far; you might have a chance.

Let’s say a little prayer together. Father, I thank you. Thank you for your mercies, Lord I know that this life is short. God help me to not let Satan rob me any longer. Father, help me to be a better husband, a better dad. God, teach me to pray and to fellowship with you. God, lead me to a church that has a true man of God in it. So he will lead me and guide me into the truth. God, forgive me of my sinful ways and let me change and put my failures behind me. Father, strengthen my marriage, teach me to love. God, help me to be what you would have me to be. Help me to hear. Don’t let me be one that does not have ears to hear. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
