The Gift of Corrected Sight

Greetings:

You may be wondering why we entitled this page “Gift of Corrected Sight.” With today’s medical technology and all of its wonders, we might say that we still look for and expect the miraculous power of God, and God is not limited to use doctors or medicines. We have seen God move in many miraculous ways, even when the doctors say that there is no way. Amen! But I would like to share with you a little story about our good friend and brother in the Lord, Cress, shown in the picture below. About seventeen years ago, Brother Cress had one of his eyes pull in (crossed) about eighty degrees. Bro. Cress suffered with this infirmity for all of those years. Being from a poverty stricken country, it seemed to be next to impossible to receive medical help with the cost of medical care in this day and hour.

Bro. Cress was here from the Philippines visiting with the brethren at Little Bethlehem in Monroe, Georgia, after our annual camp meeting in July. Bro. Cress had decided to come to North Carolina and spend some time with the brethren at Christian Temple. The Lord began to deal with me about his eye sight. As I listened to the voice of God, He said that Bro. Cress coming home with us had to do with the straightening of his eye sight, so as I listened to the Lord and pondered, God showed me that it had to do with a spiritual eye sight and the fine tuning of Bro. Cress’ understanding in the mysteries of God and the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ. To me that is the greatest miracle of all. As the Lord continued to speak to me He said that it would be vindicated by his natural eye sight being straightened. You know that the Bible says that all of the unseen things in the Spirit realm or the invisible may be made known or appear in the natural, according Romans 1:20.

So with that in mind I was expecting a miracle. What seems impossible to man is possible with God. Well, to be honest with you, when I thought of the cost of such a surgery on the eyes I just knew that God would have to work a miracle and again I was expecting God to straighten his eyes and He did, maybe not in the way I was expecting but He worked a financial miracle to make it possible for Bro. Cress’ surgery. Give me just a moment to share the rest of the story with you. Someone had shared a story about Dr. Young in Greensboro, North Carolina, and that he had performed this kind of surgery, so we made a appointment for Bro. Cress to have a evaluation. I went with Bro. Cress for this evaluation. As Dr. Young was examining Bro. Cress, I took the liberty to testify of the Lord to Dr. Young. I shared with him how the Lord put a burden on my heart to have Cress’ eyes straightened, and how that we are a small church but God was going to make a way. Dr. Young stopped his examination, spun around in his chair, looked right at me and said, “I would like to have a part in this.” He pulled a pen out of his pocket and wrote a figure on a piece of paper and handed it to me. I looked down it and it was $1000.00. I had to try to keep my composure. My eyes water up just thinking about it. I’m sure that you know that surgery of this kind can cost literally thousands of dollars. It wasn’t just the one eye that had to be operated on, the eye being so far out again 80 degrees, but they had to cut the muscles loose from both eyes to realign them.

This is not the end of the story. Dr Young said that it would be another four to five thousand dollars for the hospital and anesthesiologist. Again we saw God moving in our midst. Five to six thousand dollars is still a lot of money for a small congregation, but praise God it’s not too much for our Father who owns the cattle on a thousand hills, amen!

Dr. Young’s receptionist gave me a phone number to the hospital, and told me to speak to a certain lady there. I called this lady, and while talking with her, I testified to her what God was doing, and how that God was making a way where it seemed, naturally speaking, that there was no way. She said that they had a program for some extreme cases where the staff and the hospital would help share the expenses. She gathered all of Bro. Cress’s information from me and said that she would get right back to us. She went on to say that if they covered the expenses, it would be 100% of the expenses. She called back and said they would cover the expenses. To God be the glory!

I would like to say, in these final comments, that the brotherhood here at Christian Temple doesn’t go around begging for bread. Some could look at this testimony in such a way, but I would have to say that you are in gross error. We pay our way and God blesses our efforts, and this is a testimony unto our God and in His outstretched arm. We give all praise to our Lord, and thank all that were involved to allow God to use them in finances and talents. Amen! God bless.
